SEB and Industrifonden invest in cutting-edge IT firm Clavister

SEB’s venture capital unit and Industrifonden are investing 40 million Swedish kronor in the IT company Clavister AB to support its expansion plans. The firm offers advanced network security products that are in increasing demand as the threat from intrusions, malware and denial of service attacks increase.

Clavister, an established player with more than 175,000 installed security products, is about to launch a new version of its network security system, Clavister Security Gateway. It protects against most forms of system attacks as well as securing business-critical information, and is scalable, portable and provides large capacity.

Ulf Lewander, Investment Manager at SEB, says: “We feel that Clavister has a highly competitive product in a hot area. Interest in this company’s solutions has increased greatly of late, especially among large telecom customers and systems integrators.”

Hadar Cars, Investment Manager at Industrifonden, adds: “Clavister’s market is driven by three major trends: the mobile data explosion, the transition to cloud services and growing network security requirements. All this is driving demand for security solutions, and in this respect Clavister’s offering is perfectly timed.”

A further advantage of Clavister’s security products is that they are designed for easy integration into hardware from various manufacturers, making it an attractive partner for major IT and telecom suppliers.

CEO of Clavister Peter Johansson: “We are very proud to have added Industrifonden and SEB as investors and co-owners. Their financial strength, experience and good names further strengthen our credibility and give us the opportunity to speed up our expansion.”
