SEB is facing many ambitious tech initiatives that will shape the future of the bank
Johan Forsberg, Head of Customer Offerings, tells us about his career path and dives into what makes SEB such an attractive tech employer.

Sofia works as a strategic analyst in Cyber Security and Threat Intelligence – a role that combines strategy, technology, and analysis. With a background in information systems and a passion for Cyber Security, she has found her place in a growing and dynamic industry.
Sofia became interested in Cyber Security during her studies. “I was studying information systems, and during the last semester of my education, I took some courses from a master’s programme in Cyber Security. That’s when I found my niche. After working in the field for a while, I specifically applied to the Threat Intelligence team at SEB. It was the only job I applied for because I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do. I’ve been here for about a year now, and it feels absolutely right,” she says.
“We track threat actors and analyse how trends in attack tactics, techniques, and procedures evolve. We map out how the threat landscape against SEB develops, especially considering current geopolitical events. This can involve anything from opportunistic cybercriminals and hacktivists to the most sophisticated actors.”
She explains that as a bank, SEB has a particular responsibility. “Since SEB also serves as critical infrastructure, it’s incredibly important for us to monitor the full spectrum of threats. It’s a job with significant responsibility, but also an exciting challenge. It’s reassuring to know that we’re part of something bigger, that we’re a team selected for our specific expertise, and that we tackle these challenges together.”
“The colleagues are fantastic. It’s a team of extremely skilled individuals, and we have a strong culture of sharing knowledge and learning from each other. We also work with advanced technology and get the chance to test new tools early, which is incredibly fun.”
She also highlights the culture at SEB. “There’s an open atmosphere and a lot of drive here. If you want to try new things, you’ll get support, both from leadership and colleagues. That allows us to stay ahead and truly make a difference.”
“Cyber Security is a broad field with so many different areas and skill sets. I encourage people to try different roles to find what they’re passionate about. It’s also important to remember that no one has the whole picture—everyone brings their own expertise and function, which means we complement each other. If you have a unique area of interest, it can be a valuable addition to the team—so make the most of what excites you! This is a job where you need to stay updated on what’s happening in the world and in technology, so if you’re naturally curious, it’s a very exciting field."
“I’m looking forward to our increased usage of new technologies to better understand, anticipate and counter the ever-evolving threat landscape. By leveraging tools like AI, we as a team can improve our analyses. I believe this will help us work more efficiently and focus on the most complex issues. I’m also curious about how the assessments we make today will hold up when we look back in a few years. It’s an exciting field that’s constantly evolving, and I hope more people find their way into it.”
