International Trainee Programme

Do you want to challenge, change, and lead our company into the future? Then you should apply for SEB's international Trainee programme.
The world faces common challenges, and we want to be part of the solution. That is why we place a strong emphasis on sustainability and digitalissation as we shape the future of SEB. These focus areas influence both our long-term strategy and all roles within our international Trainee Programme. You will become a crucial key player in shaping the future of the bank.
SEB is a large international company with about 20,000 employees around the world, and the programme is designed to provide you with a broad introduction to working in a large and complex international organisation.
SEB's International Trainee Programme
From day one, you’ll step into a full-time role and become part of a cohort of up to 20 participants, of which the majority is based in Sweden and some at our international sites. You’ll be supported by mentors, surrounded by peers, and empowered to grow – both personally and professionally.
The programme runs for nine months, starting in early September every other year, and offers a unique blend of hands-on experience and structured learning. You are employed from the start in a specific role in the bank, and practical work is combined with training to support your development and career at SEB.
What to expect:
Hands-on work and real impact
- 70% of your time is spent in your home department, contributing to meaningful projects
Structured development within the programme – the other 30% include
- Learning modules – covering leadership, communication, and collaboration
- Rotations to other teams
- Hackathons & Business Challenges – to stretch your thinking and spark innovation
- Networking – connect with SEB’s global community
- You’ll also visit SEB offices abroad and have the opportunity to do a four-week internship at another international SEB site after completing the programme.
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for young talents who are curious, driven, and ready to challenge the status quo. SEB is on an exciting journey, and we are looking for committed employees who want to drive SEB forward, find new solutions, and shape tomorrow’s banking together.
You should:
- Have graduated within the past two years – from a relevant academic degree
- Be fluent in English – both spoken and written
- Be curious, eager to learn and willing to drive change
Previous experience (part-time work, life abroad etc.) and involvement during your studies are advantageous but what matters most is your potential and passion
In our recruitment, SEB behaviours are something we consider when choosing whom to hire. These behaviours include creating value, acting long-term, and building positive relationships.
Our recruitment process
We want to get to know you – and for you to get to know us.
The process includes:
- Psychometric tests
- Interviews – digitally and/or on-site
- A case exercise and presentation
- SEB Day – An event to learn more about SEB and the programme, with insights from former tech trainees (digital option available)
If it’s a match, you’ll receive a job offer and begin your journey in the beginning of September with an onboarding at your department, followed by a joint kick-off and programme activities with your cohort.
