SEB is a leading northern European financial services group, and at the same time, one of the largest IT employers in the Nordics. Banking is changing rapidly, and we are proud of our reputation for being entrepreneurial and innovative in the face of change. Our brilliant techies work hard to future proof SEB’s digital architecture and customer products because it genuinely makes a huge impact for our customers and colleagues. Does that sound like a fit for you?

Do you want to play an important role in our journey to build a strong and reliable IT organization?
We are looking for a Tech Lead to join our Trading Regulatory Reporting System Team in Riga within SEB’s Technology area. The team consists of skilled and dedicated colleagues delivering regulatory reporting solutions for SEB and its clients. We work as a large virtual team across Riga and Stockholm, using agile methodologies. We are now looking for a hands‑on Tech Lead who combines solid application engineering experience with technical leadership and strong platform mindset.

What you will be doing:
Regulatory Reporting has been a core part of the financial services industry over the past decade. To adapt to continuous regulatory and market changes, SEB has taken a proactive approach by building a strong IT and requirement capability in Riga. The application we use today is an in-house developed reporting engine built on Microsoft platform, delivering critical information to regulators to ensure SEB’s compliance within its Trading services.
As Tech Lead for our System team, you will be responsible for:
  • Driving technical decisions and standards, while optimizing and administering Windows Server environments (services, AD users/groups, IIS) and related automation.
  • Maintaining and optimizing MS SQL solutions, including T-SQL tuning, database performance, and IT security.
  • Driving DevOps and automation by improving CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions), observability (e.g., Splunk), and reducing manual operational work.
  • Ensuring system reliability and incident prevention by troubleshooting production issues, leading complex problem-solving and participating in a shared on-call setup as needed.
  • Strengthening system monitoring and observability to support stable and predictable operations.
  • Collaborating in agile teams by working closely with development teams, stakeholders, and business experts in Riga and Stockholm using Scrum, Kanban or SAFe.
  • Owning the technical backlog by maintaining and prioritizing non-functional requirements (reliability, security, operability), defining and tracking technical debt remediation, and supporting backlog grooming and sprint planning.
  • Mentoring and enabling team growth by supporting engineers, fostering T-shaped skills, and contributing to roadmap and release planning to balance feature delivery with long-term platform health.

  • We see you as a candidate who can play a key role in helping to both lead the technical design and participate in the future architectural direction of the Regulatory Reporting application. To succeed in this role, we see you as collaborative technical leader who communicates clearly and works effectively across teams.
    Who are we looking for:
  • Strong hands-on skills in MS SQL (design, development, performance tuning) and .NET/C#.
  • Solid experience with Windows Server administration (IIS, services, AD), PowerShell scripting, and automation.
  • Proven ability to drive automation, streamline manual processes, and implement CI/CD, using Azure DevOps and / or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability (e.g., Splunk), and proactive incident prevention.
  • Ability to work closely with feature teams, understand their needs, and deliver robust, reusable solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience facilitating technical discussions, backlog grooming, and cross-team alignment.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing technical debt, defining remediation strategies, and tracking progress.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and backlog management.
  • Excellent command of English, written and spoken. Work execution is related to foreign countries.

  • We do not expect deep expertise in every technical area from day one. What matters most is a senior professional who understands complex systems, can lead technical decisions, and work effectively with people, while continuing to build knowledge on the job.
We will consider as a big advantage:
  • Experience working with large administrative systems with many integrations.
  • Previous experience in a Teach Lead or similar technical leadership role.
  • Experience in banking, regulatory reporting, or other regulated enterprise environments.
  • Background in supporting multiple teams or acting as a bridge between platform/system and feature delivery.
  • Experience working in a bank with reporting applications.

  • We highly value personality and mindset. As our new colleagues, we believe you are motivated, self-driven, and able to build trust and collaborate effectively with others. We expect you to be comfortable setting and meeting delivery estimates and deadlines. On-the-job training will be provided through our onboarding and mentoring program to support your continued development within SEB and our trading product solutions. We also value the ability to work effectively in a diverse and distributed team.
    What we offer:
  • We offer many experiences and benefits to our employees, and there is nuance to every individual’s career experience, but the elements that define the core of our offering are:
