Join Cloud Foundations and set the direction for the cloud platform the rest of the bank builds on. We deliver landing zones, guardrails and platform capabilities in Google Cloud, so SEB's developers can move fast without compromising security or compliance.

Hundreds of application teams at SEB need managed, vetted solutions for standard patterns. As Solution Architect you own the target architecture for our GCP platform and the way we work with architecture. You work as a pair with our Tech Lead for GCP, who owns how it gets built, and you know the platform and its codebase well. You report to the Head of Department and are a member of the department's management team, together with our team managers and the other Solution Architects.

What you will be doing

  • Create, maintain, and drive the target architecture for our GCP platform, in line with the bank's domain architecture and business objectives.

  • Define managed, vetted solutions for standard patterns that application teams across the bank can reuse, together with the Solution Architects in the domain.

  • Establish and maintain structured architecture practices, including documentation.

  • Define ADRs that the Tech Lead and the team take into implementation and test your designs against what the team learns from building.

  • Drive architectural decisions through the bank's architecture governance.

  • Support larger initiatives that start from a use case, where application teams need architecture support to land on the platform. You do this jointly with the other Solution Architects.

  • Proactively identify improvements and take the lead when the direction is unclear.

  • Advise development teams and architects and coordinate with the other Solution Architects to keep GCP, Azure and AWS coherent.

  • Contribute to the department's direction and ways of working as part of the management team.

Who you are

You are a driven, proactive, and collaborative architect who takes ownership and enjoys solving complex problems. You make complicated things simple and can explain a design to a developer, a security specialist, and a manager in the same week. You share what you know and contribute to an open and transparent team.

Skills and experience

  • Cloud architect certification, primarily Google Cloud (e.g. Professional Cloud Architect). A comparable certification in another cloud is accepted.

  • University degree and 6–10 years of relevant experience, including several years of architecture or senior engineering in public cloud, with GCP as your main platform.

  • Experience of owning architecture that is used broadly by many teams in a large organization.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platform architecture: landing zones, IAM, networking, security, observability, and resilience.

  • Experience from establishing structured architecture work (decision records, models, documentation) and driving decisions through formal architecture governance.

  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, e.g. Terraform and GitHub Actions, and the ability to work in the codebase.

  • Ability to turn business needs into solutions, and to collaborate across domains and managerial levels, both business and IT.

  • Experience from leading architecture work without formal line management.

  • Fluent English, spoken and written.

Nice to have

  • Experience of Azure or AWS.

  • Financial services or another regulated industry.

  • Driving larger technical shifts across several teams.

  • Kubernetes/GKE, policy-as-code or self-service platforms.

What we offer

  • Real influence over a platform the whole bank builds on, reaching hundreds of application teams.

  • A seat in the department's management team.

  • A technical team of around fifteen people, with a Tech Lead next to you rather than below you.

  • GCP as your home ground, with room to broaden into Azure and AWS.

  • A hybrid workplace, SEB staff banking and our wider benefits package.

  • An office next door to Mall of Scandinavia in Solna.
