SEB is more than a bank. We are a technology-driven financial institution where everything starts from our customer needs and business outcomes. AI, data and modern engineering are natural parts of how we work, build and deliver value.

From core banking platforms to agentic AI , automation, cybersecurity and cloud, we offer a broad tech landscape and many paths to grow. Together, we are shaping secure, responsible and future- proof solutions for our customers and society. Are you ready to take on a new challenge?

About the role

Join us as a senior software engineer in the Quant Development team within Market & Counterparty Risk. You will work in the broader context of RFA (Risk Frameworks & Analytics), a virtual team spanning risk platforms, frameworks, and analytics. We build and run calculation engines and surrounding systems for market risk and counterparty credit risk, including value-at-risk calculations, Monte Carlo simulations, and the data flows that support them.

You will work hands-on with systems that ingest and transform data, support risk calculations, and deliver results across the bank. This role suits an engineer who can deliver substantial changes independently and work systematically with others to plan work, align contributors, and drive delivery forward.

What you will work on

You will contribute in areas such as:

Calculation engines (Risk analytics & validation) - Work with developers, quants, and risk specialists to improve calculation flows, validation, and reliability.

Data engineering (Python & Airflow) - Build and improve pipelines for market and trade data using Python and Apache Airflow.

Software development (C#) - Build backend services, APIs, and integration components in C#.

To thrive in this role, we believe you

  • You have strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems, ideally in C# and/or Python.

  • You are comfortable with SQL and with designing and validating data flows across systems.

  • You can deliver complex changes independently and explain the technical choices behind them.

  • You work systematically with multiple people to deliver features, including planning work, aligning contributors, and driving progress to completion.

  • You value testing, code review, CI/CD, and continuous improvement.

  • You work well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and support less experienced engineers through collaboration and review.

  • Experience in financial markets, risk, or quantitative systems is beneficial, but not required.

  • We are looking for a strong senior engineer who can improve and run critical systems, not only deliver features.

Your team

You will be part of the Quant Development team within Market & Counterparty Risk. The team works closely with quants, risk specialists, and other engineering teams across the bank. We combine technical depth, close collaboration, and shared ownership of business-critical systems.

What we offer

  • Work on business-critical systems at the core of SEB’s risk management.

  • Be part of a skilled Quant Development team working closely with both the business and the wider technology organization.

  • Grow your technical expertise and influence over time.

  • Work in an engineering culture that values ownership, learning, and improvement.

  • Hybrid work model, meaning remote work is possible up to 2 days/week

  • Long-term stability and growth as a company

  • A diverse, inclusive and equal environment

  • Entrepreneurial Scandinavian environment

  • Opportunity to build connections with a top-level customer network
