Fighting financial crime requires an intelligence-led and data-driven approach, with automation and advanced analytics as important components of our work.

We are now looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Transaction Monitoring (TM) unit in Sweden and help strengthen SEB Group's risk coverage and detection capabilities. You will analyse financial-crime risks and data, translate identified needs into TM scenario changes, and support those changes from initial analysis through testing, governance and implementation.

We aim to drive positive change by providing capital to help everyone reach their goals and accelerate progress towards a sustainable tomorrow. As a leading financial services group in northern Europe, we'll help you grow and empower you to take on more responsibility to create a real difference. Welcome to SEB.

About the role

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will assess and improve the risk coverage and effectiveness of Transaction Monitoring (TM) scenarios, working with other financial-crime experts, data specialists, IT and relevant governance stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a subject-matter expert in scenario development and optimization.
  • Analysing financial crime datasets to identify patterns, trends and anomalies.
  • Proposing improvements for existing TM controls and suggesting designs for new TM controls
  • Working closely with business and technology teams to define, clarify and align business and technical requirements.
  • Performing change impact assessment for TM scenario alert volumes and aligning expectations with business stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with IT on scenario development, optimisation, implementation, testing and deployment supporting the quality and effectiveness of delivered changes.
  • Throughout the process presenting proposed changes, analysis and results to relevant governance forums and committees.

To thrive in this role, we believe you have

  • An academic degree in finance, business, law, mathematics, data engineering, IT or another relevant field.
  • At least five years of experience in AML/KYC, data analysis or financial crime prevention within a major financial institution.
  • Strong skills in data transformation and analysis using tools such as Excel and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Python, considered a strong advantage.
  • Experience of scenario development and change management using advanced analytics or AI/ML techniques, considered a merit.
  • A deep understanding of AML risks and a curiosity for innovative approaches to mitigating them.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities combined with a proactive mindset.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Mindset and behaviours that will set you up for success:

  • A proven ability to collaborate across teams, functions and geographies.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly to different stakeholders.
  • Comfort in managing several initiatives and navigating ambiguity.
  • Experience of driving change and adapting to evolving business needs.

If you are passionate about data, innovation and making a meaningful impact in the fight against financial crime, we would like to hear from you.

What we offer

  • An attractive and international working environment with agile and modern ways of working.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues from different parts of SEB and build a broad internal and external network.
  • A hybrid work model, with flexibility to work remotely in line with SEB policy and team needs.
