SEB ranked best sustainability advisor by Nordic clients

SEB maintains its position as the leading advisor and research provider on sustainable financing across the Nordic region, shows the latest Prospera customer survey from Kantar Sifo.

SEB ranks at the top overall with a score of 1,078 points, ahead of the number two and three banks at 1,023 and 946 respectively. SEB scored particularly well among the largest corporate customers and clients issuing investment grade bonds.

Kantar Sifo is basing the results on 32 Prospera surveys where they ask respondents about banks’ sustainability advice and research. These underlying surveys cover various client segments in all the four Nordic countries.

“We are immensely proud of this result. This is a collaborative success across many areas of the bank,” says Hans Beyer, Head of Sustainable Banking in SEB.

Beyer says it shows that the integration of sustainability considerations is well on its way in a fashion that’s appreciated throughout SEB’s total franchise and service offering.

Strongest in Sweden and Finland

Looking at the different Nordic countries, SEB is ranked number one in Finland and Sweden, and number three in Denmark and Norway. Across the region, SEB is stronger among corporate clients compared to institutional clients.

“We have had a focus on the corporate sector so far, but we’re now reinforcing our institutional capacity through an increased effort around our flag ship product the Green Bond Report,” says Hans Beyer.

“Our ambition is equally strong across all sectors,” Beyer says.

Staying ahead is greatest challenge

According to Beyer the greatest challenge going forward is the continuous enhancement the competition’s abilities, and SEB’s own ability to constantly stay relevant.

“The distance to the runner up is decreasing and as the concept of sustainability reaches further into different parts of the economy this challenge will increase,” he says.

SEB’s main focus going forward will be to continue supporting customers’ long-term ambitions as the sustainability landscape changes. Both from a business as well as a regulatory perspective.
