Cleantech Capital Day is an annual conference that gathers industry representatives, investors, authorities, newly started companies and growth companies under the theme of sustainable innovation. In conjunction with the meeting, the Nordic Cleantech Open event is also being held to name the year’s most innovative cleantech companies in early stages of development.
“There is incredible growth of sustainable startup companies in Norway both within cleantech and other segments”, says John Turesson, country manager in Norway. “Through our ScaleCenter we have a natural coupling to this innovation environment, and therefore we have decided to go in as one of the main sponsors of the event. In addition, we are active in raising capital for this type of company and this is a very good arena for meeting investors”.
The conference, which will bring together some 200 participants, will be held on October 25–26 and will feature networking opportunities, company presentations and lectures. Among the speakers will be both Markus Hökfelt, Head of SEB Greentech Venture Capital, and Susanne Gløersen, who represents SEB Greentech in Norway and Norwegian representative for organizing Cleantech Scandinavia.
According to Cleantech Scandinavia, Nordic investments in green technology increased by nearly 160 percent in 2021. Sweden has the largest investment volumes, but Norway is the country showing the greatest growth with a quadrupling of investments in 2021.
“It is gratifying to see the great focus on hardware during the conference. We will not reach the Paris Agreement if we do not invest in hardware and this is a major focus area for SEB Greentech VC”, says Susanne Gløersen
Markus Hökfelt will participate in a panel discussion focusing on the theme of Industry Transformation and Net-Zero, and Susanne Gløersen will be part of a panel focusing on Emerging Trends in the Carbon Removal Landscape and Nature Tech Solutions. Susanne will also be part of the trio of representatives who will welcome everyone to the conference.
Both Markus and Susanne are also members of the jury that will name the most innovative cleantech company in the Nordic countries. In conjunction with this, SEB will also hand out its own award – a “gold card” that will give the winning company a spot for one year at SEB ScaleCenter in Oslo.
