I have high ambitions and want to continue developing

Therese Karlsson works as a Customer Assistant Key Account Manager (KAM) at SEB Life & Pension. She has a unique career journey. With a background in the international equestrian world, where she has both competed and worked, she has had the opportunity to travel and work in countries such as the United States, China and the Netherlands.

Therese has trained young horses to compete at an elite level, been stable manager and worked with large horse operations. "It's a lifestyle and a job that many people may not see as entrepreneurship, but that's exactly what it is – a large and important business that requires a lot of planning and strategy," says Therese.

When Therese left the horse industry, it was her family's long history at SEB that attracted her to take the step into the banking world. "My family has worked at the bank, so it has always been there in the background. It was a natural step to follow in the end, especially since I also always had an interest in business and finance."

What is the best thing about your role as a customer assistant within the KAM organization?

"The best thing about my role as a customer assistant is the variety, that I get the chance to work both internally and externally. I am a person who is passionate about service and delivery, and I enjoy meeting many different people. So, to be able to help some of our key customers is fantastic," says Therese.

"It's also exciting that there is a real investment in Pension & Insurance now, it feels like we're on our way to establishing ourselves as the leading pension company, and it's inspiring to be part of that journey," she continues.

What are you looking forward to in your future at SEB?

"I have high ambitions and want to continue to develop. I really enjoy working at Life & Pension and there is a great breadth within the department with many opportunities to develop. In the future, I see myself learning the role of KAM. Getting the chance and learning more business and how to negotiate is a journey that I want to embark on," says Therese.

"Since I am also passionate about sports, I am particularly interested in the SEB:s sports advisory, which helps professional athletes with their finances both during and after their careers and in building good retirement plans. It is very interesting and important to make sure that our athletes are doing well. What's so fantastic about SEB is that the bank really invests in their employees, and that there are so many ways to develop your career and shape your future, both in Sweden and internationally."
