Therese Karlsson, Insurance Operations Specialist at SEB Life & Pension, has a unique career journey. With a background in the international equestrian world, where she both competed and worked, she has had the opportunity to travel and work in countries such as the USA, China, and the Netherlands.

Therese has trained young horses to compete at an elite level, served as a stable manager, and worked with large equestrian businesses. “It’s a lifestyle and a job that many might not perceive as a business, but that’s exactly what it is – a significant operation that requires extensive planning and strategy,” says Therese.

When Therese left the equestrian industry, it was her family’s long history with SEB that drew her to the banking world. “I grew up with SEB,” she explains. “My family worked at the bank, so it was always present in the background. Ultimately, it became a natural step to follow, especially since I’ve always had an interest in business and finance.”

What is the best part of your role as an Insurance Operations Specialist?

“I work with administering occupational pensions, but my role encompasses much more than just administration. We have the opportunity to be involved in various projects, suggesting ways to develop systems and streamline work processes. It’s a much broader role than one might expect, and that’s what makes it so enjoyable,” says Therese. “It’s also exciting that there’s a real focus on Life & Pension now; it feels like we are on the path to establishing ourselves as the leading pension company, and it’s inspiring to be part of that journey,” she adds.

What are you looking forward to in your future at SEB?

“I have high ambitions and want to continue developing. I’m really enjoying my time in Life & Pension, and there are numerous opportunities within the department for growth. In the future, I’m also curious about the business side and possibly even working abroad again,” says Therese.
“Since I’m also passionate about sports, I’m particularly interested in SEB Sport, which helps professional athletes manage their finances during and after their careers, as well as build solid pension plans. It’s crucial to ensure that our athletes are well taken care of. What’s great about SEB is that they truly invest in their employees, providing numerous paths for career development and the chance to shape one’s future, both in Sweden and internationally.”
