Note that some of our funds are only for distribution in Sweden and some of the alternative funds are not available to non-professional investors. Alternative investments is a term for investments that constitute other investments than traditional investments such as equities and fixed income.

What our alternative investments have in common is that they have less restricted investment rules than traditional funds and aim for absolute returns, that is to achieve positive returns regardless of how the underlying markets develop.

SEB has a long history in alternatives and pioneered the hedge fund industry in Sweden during the 1980s. During the years we have complemented our range of products within Private Equity, Real Estate, Micro Finance and hedge funds.

We offer a range of listed and non-listed investment vehicles for institutions and private banking clients. Alternatives are also part of our xAsset investment funds for retail investors.

Our alternative investments are suitable for you who want to:

diversify the investment portfolio as the covariance in returns is generally low between alternative investments and developments in the traditional financial markets
spread the risks through investments to several asset class categories such as real estate, private equity, currencies, commodities, unlisted credit and microfinance

Managed Futures/ CTA

SEB Funds AB has a long tradition of managing the trend-following, absolute return strategy called managed futures/CTA. We were pioneers in this field when we in 2006 launched SEB Asset Selection Fund.

Real Estate and Infrastructure

The Real Estate and Infrastructure Team establish and manage real estate and infrastructure funds and discretionary mandates with directly owned properties as the underlying asset.
