Magnus about working abroad: “I would go out again if the opportunity was given”

"I have had the privilege of working in three global financial centers. I think this experience enables me to be better in my current role", says Magnus Ward, Head of Capital Introduction within the hedge fund segment, Financial Institutions Coverage.

Can you describe your international assignments within SEB?

"We, by that I mean myself and my family, have been lucky to have been on three consecutive assignments spanning a total of 14 years. Firstly, in Frankfurt where I was part of the team working with integration when SEB bought BFG. Then to London where I worked with our Prime Brokerage offering for Hedge Funds. Last, but not least, in Hong Kong, where I was part of the group setting up the new office".

What do you think it has given you professionally and in your personal life?

"I have learnt a lot over these years having been able to work in three different global financial centers. This spans from working with people with different cultural backgrounds to get exposure to very global clients. I think this experience enables me to be better in my current role. Personally, being abroad has also given me and my family a chance to see a large part of the world.

Would you recommend someone to try an international assignment if possibility is given?

"Yes and I would myself go out again if the opportunity was given"
