Daniel about the time abroad: ‘A bit of a dream come true’

“Already after less than a year, it has given me an incredible amount – both professionally and personally. I have gained a greater understanding for our global customers in another part of the world, and having the chance to spend a few years in New York is a bit of a dream come true,” says Daniel Forslund, who is currently working at SEB in New York.

“Already after less than a year, it has given me an incredible amount – both professionally and personally,” says Daniel Forslund, who is currently working at SEB in New York.

SEB is represented in 20 countries around the world and the bank aims to offer good opportunities to develop internationally those who have that ambition. Daniel Forslund is one of the employees who decided to spend a period abroad.

Can you describe your international assignments at SEB?

"I have been working since this past summer as Business Manager in Transaction Services in New York. This means that I am responsible for the business we have in the US with home market customers – especially in Transaction Services, but also in certain other product areas. My customer base consists primarily of large corporations from Sweden and Germany. This job in New York is my first foreign assignment for SEB."

What do you feel it has given you professionally and personally?

"Already after less than a year, it has given me an incredible amount – both professionally and personally. Professionally it has given me a greater understanding for our global customers in another part of the world. North and South America account for a large share of business for our corporate customers, making our assignment as a bank in the region very interesting, but also challenging. It is gratifying to see how much value we can create for clients – locally and as a link between operations at home and around the world.

"Personally it has given me the opportunity to live in another country, with all that entails with respect to culture, experiences and networks. New York is an amazing city to live in, no matter where your interests lie, and having the chance to spend a few years here is a bit of a dream come true. Apart from the city, I have also had the opportunity to explore and get to know the country in a way that you can only do by living here."
