Over the last three years, SEB has nominated 64 board candidates. 39 of them were women. "We have worked continuously to increase the number of women on boards and today we have 40 percent women on the boards where SEB's fund management company is a member of the nominating committee. This means that we have reached the gender equality target set by the government during the election,” says Hans Ek, Sustainability Manager within Investment Management.
SEB is involved in 35 nominating committees within the bank's ownership- and sustainability work.
"In recent years, we have worked to increase the number of women on the boards that we are involved with. In particular, we have been looking for women with a background in finance, technology and digitalization,” says Hans Ek.
During 2016, SEB nominated 28 new board members, of whom 15 (54 per cent) were women.
"Many of those we nominated had no previous experience of board assignments, but in addition to their skills, they added new approaches and views to the board rooms.
The proportion of women on boards in all listed Swedish companies in 2016 was 36 percent. The figures for 2017 are not yet available.
