In May, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of SEB and Wallenberg Investments, launched an initiative to build AI infrastructure in Sweden. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry through secure and sovereign access to world-leading AI capacity.
The planned AI system will be powered by over a thousand interconnected Nvidia graphics processors (Grace Blackwell GB300-system), optimised for training and running complex AI models.
In addition to the newly named joint venture Sferical AI, an Nvidia AI Technology Center is being established in Sweden. The center will collaborate with SEB and others to develop tailored AI solutions.
“This initiative gives us access to advanced technology that enables new AI-based services for our customers and employees,” says Jonas Ahlström, SEB's Chief Operating Officer.
During the startup phase, SEB will contribute resources and expertise to meet its specific AI needs, while also exchanging knowledge with the other partner companies. The collaboration between the companies is highlighted as a strength by Professor Anders Ynnerman, Chair of Sferical AI and newly appointed CEO Jenny Nordlöw.
