“It is very pleasing that we are one of five banks globally to make it onto this list. It confirms the courage and vision that characterise SEB’s strategy for the future,” says Christoffer Malmer, head of the SEB Embedded business unit which is a spin-off from the SEBx innovation studio.
In the June issue of the magazine, Global Finance presents the Innovators Awards for the eleventh consecutive year.
Already in 2022, SEBx was ranked one of the best financial innovation labs and retains that position this year.
But new for this year is that SEB, as the only Nordic bank, is ranked on the list of the five most innovative banks globally. The others on the list are Bank of America, DBS, HSBC, and JP Morgan.
Nicolas Moch, who has been head of SEBx since January, is pleased with the recognition and thinks that it will make it easier for the innovation studio to gain access to qualified external expertise and be able to take part in cutting-edge innovation initiatives.
“It is a feather in the cap for SEB’s courage to invest in an innovation unit that is separate from the existing business. It is quite something to have the maturity and courage to dare to invest in this,” he says.
The selection which underlies Innovators Awards is made by the editorial board on the basis of input from reporters who are industry experts.
