SEB earns top ranking in Nordics as sustainability adviser

For the second year in a row, SEB earned the top score for sustainability advice in a ranking of banks by large corporates and financial institutions in the Nordic countries. SEB was ranked as number one in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and overall in the Nordics.

“Sustainability is a key strategic area both for us and our customers. It is therefore very gratifying to receive this positive feedback from the market. We will continue to broaden and deepen our customer dialogue in this area,” comments Hans Beyer, Chief Sustainability Officer.

The Prospera report presents aggregate score of more than 30 different customer surveys conducted by Prospera in 2021 among 1,900 companies and financial institutions in the Nordic countries. These include the broad Corporate and Institutional Banking surveys as well as separate surveys for various product areas.

All of the surveys include one question – worded in slightly different ways – where customers are asked to rank how well their banks support them with sustainability advice. The result of this question has then been weighed together for a total score.

SEB was ranked number one overall in the Nordic countries with 1,265 points. Looking at individual countries, SEB was ranked as number one in Sweden, Finland and Denmark. In Norway SEB was ranked second, with Nordea as number one.

“We are working very hard to elevate our expertise so that we can support customers in their sustainability transitions,” says Jonas Ahlström, co-head of the Large Corporates & Financial Institutions division. “This is confirmation that our work is yielding results, which is very gratifying. We will continue our efforts to increase our proactivity and offer even more relevant advice and innovative solutions in this area.”

Broken down by customer segments, SEB was ranked number one by large corporates and number two by financial institutions.
