Tech Trainee Programme

If you're ready to grow, challenge, and innovate – we’d love to meet you.

SEB’s Tech Trainee Programme is your chance to build a meaningful career in tech, surrounded by people who care about impact, collaboration, and the future.

Are you ready to shape the future?

Technology at SEB is all about creating smart solutions that make a real impact – for our customers, our colleagues, and the future of banking. The SEB Tech Trainee Programme is designed for curious minds who want to explore, grow, and be part of something bigger. It’s a chance to kickstart your career, work with experienced teams, and help shape tomorrow’s solutions.

SEB is a large international bank with about 20,000 employees, including 3,000 in our Technology organisation and another 1,500 tech roles across the organisation. Together, we form an agile, forward-thinking tech community.

Our Tech organisation is the driving force behind SEB’s digital transformation. That means:

  • Keeping systems reliable, secure, and future-ready
  • Ensuring resilient, secure, and scalable systems
  • Working at the forefront of Cloud technologies, Cybersecurity, AI, and Data Management
  • Creating products that simplify life for our customers and colleagues

With tech teams in 16 countries, our largest hubs are in Sweden and Lithuania – but our impact is global. If you're passionate about tech and want to work where innovation meets purpose, this is your opportunity.

SEB's Tech Trainee Programme

From day one, you’ll step into your full-time tech role and become part of a cohort of up to 20 participants from Sweden and the Baltics. You’ll be supported by mentors, surrounded by peers, and empowered to grow – both personally and professionally.

The programme runs for six months, starting in early September, and offers a unique blend of hands-on experience and structured learning. You’ll gain insight into how a large, international organisation works, while building your skills as a tech specialist.

What to expect

Hands-on work and real impact

  • 50% of your time is spent in your department, contributing to meaningful projects.

Structured development within the programme – the other 50% include:

  • Learning modules – covering self-leadership, communication, and collaboration
  • Tech Tracks, Hackathons & Business Challenges – to stretch your thinking and spark innovation
  • Self-driven activities – shape your journey and grow key competencies like responsibility and collaboration
  • Networking – connecting you with SEB’s global tech community

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for tech enthusiasts who are curious, driven, and ready to challenge the status quo. SEB is on an exciting digital journey, and we are looking for committed employees who want to drive SEB forward, find new solutions, and shape tomorrow’s banking together.

You should:

  • Have graduated within the past two years by the time the programme begins – from a relevant academic degree or a two-year vocational education in IT or tech
  • Be fluent in English – both spoken and written
  • Have strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset
  • Be curious, eager to learn and willing to drive change

Previous experience in IT is a plus – but what matters most is your potential and passion. In our recruitment, SEB behaviours are something we consider when choosing whom to hire. These behaviours include creating value, acting long-term, and building positive relationships.

Our Recruitment Process

We want to get to know you – and for you to get to know us. The process includes:

  • Psychometric tests
  • Interviews – digitally and/or on-site
  • A case exercise and presentation
  • SEB Day - An event to learn more about SEB and the programme, with insights from former tech trainees (digital option available)

If it’s a match, you’ll receive a job offer and begin your journey in the beginning of September with an onboarding at your department, followed by a joint kick-off and programme activities with your cohort.
