Own systems that move millions of payments every day

Join SEB’s Payments & Reporting team and take ownership of services powering millions of payments across the Nordics.

You will build new systems and continuously improve existing ones, ensuring they remain reliable, scalable, and ready for higher volumes and new regulatory demands. Ensuring they remain reliable, scalable, and ready for increasing volumes and new regulatory demands.

This means solving real engineering challenges in distributed, data-intensive systems, where performance, resilience, and correctness are critical.

What you’ll do

  • Design and evolve event-driven microservices for payment processing and reporting
  • Build and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend systems
  • Take full ownership of services end-to-end
  • Optimize data-heavy workflows, including schema design, performance tuning, and query optimization
  • Drive production excellence with monitoring, resilience, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate across teams to shape architecture and platform capabilities
  • Contribute to engineering practices, including CI/CD, testing, and AI-assisted development

  • Backend: .NET 10 (C#)
  • Messaging & events: Kafka, IBM MQ
  • Data: MS SQL Server, Redis
  • Platform: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • Ways of working: CI/CD, automated testing, observability-first

 

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience building and operating backend systems in .NET / C#
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • Experience working with data-intensive applications and SQL performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, MQ, or similar)
  • Experience running services in containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Ability to own solutions end-to-end and operate them in production
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation, system diagrams, and extracting data from various internal sources

To thrive in this role, we believe you have:

  • Proven experience with .NET/C#, and microservices development
  • Strong MS SQL Server background and DBA-level skills, experienced in building, optimizing, and operating data-intensive systems
  • Strong DBA-level skills (performance, indexing, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with Kafka or another message broker
  • Good working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and OpenShift
  • Experience working with infrastructure and deployment automation
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to share, learn, and grow
  • Great communication skills and fluency in English, Swedish is a plus
