Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) plays a central role in SEB’s work to prevent, detect, and respond to money laundering and terrorist financing. Within this framework, the SAR Decisioning team is responsible for ensuring that Suspicious Activity Reports are assessed, decided, and reported in a robust, timely, and compliant manner, while also strengthening quality, consistency, and the use of SAR-derived intelligence across the bank.

We are looking for a SAR Decisioning Officer to join the SAR Decisioning team. In this role, you will contribute to high-quality SAR decisioning and SAR reporting by assessing suspicion, making well-founded filing decisions, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, and using insights from SAR work to support stronger controls, better quality, and continuous improvement.

What you will do

You will perform thorough quality reviews of Suspicious Activity Reports and related case material to ensure that reporting is accurate, complete, clear, and aligned with regulatory expectations. The role includes assessing whether identified suspicion meets the threshold for reporting, making well-supported filing decisions, filing SARs in accordance with internal procedures and required timelines, and providing clear, actionable feedback to investigators and other stakeholders. You will also contribute to stronger reporting quality and consistency by analyzing thematic trends, highlighting improvement opportunities, and using SAR-derived intelligence and thematic observations to support better controls, guidance, and ways of working across the organization.

The role is based in Sweden, with Solna as the preferred location. For the right candidate, alternative locations in Sweden where the Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) function has an established presence may be considered.

Who we are looking for
  • You have an academic degree in law, finance, economics, criminology, or another relevant field.

  • You communicate clearly and professionally in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

  • An ICA or ACAMS certification is considered an advantage.

  • At least 7+ years of professional experience within AML/CTF, financial crime compliance, SAR investigations, SAR decisioning, SAR reporting, or a similar risk-management or control function in a regulated environment.

  • You have 5+ years of hands-on SAR filing experience, including complex cases from multiple sources such as manual tips, authority requests, and transaction monitoring systems. Experience from SARs linked to correspondent banking and different products is an advantage.

  • You have solid experience assessing investigative material, determining whether the threshold for suspicion is met, and ensuring that SAR reporting is clear, complete, accurate, and aligned with internal standards and regulatory expectations.

  • You have investigation experience across private customers, corporate customers, and large corporates, and can assess cases in different business and risk contexts.

  • You have strong practical knowledge of AML/CTF laws, regulations, typologies, and supervisory expectations, and you are comfortable translating regulatory requirements into sound, risk-based, and operationally effective decisions. Experience from banking or another complex financial institution is strongly preferred.

  • You are used to handling complex, sensitive, or time-critical matters where strong judgement, integrity, and an evidence-based approach are essential. You are able to critically assess information, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and make balanced decisions even where the facts are nuanced or not straightforward.

  • You have experience providing clear, constructive, and actionable feedback to investigators, team leads, or other stakeholders, and you are comfortable interacting across first line, second line, governance, and control functions to strengthen consistency, quality, and reporting standards.

  • You are experienced and comfortable making independent decisions in complex matters, documenting your assessments clearly and thoroughly in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and evidentiary expectations.

  • You have the confidence and integrity to stand by well-founded decisions, even in situations where internal stakeholders may hold different views, while remaining professional, constructive, and grounded in facts, risk considerations, and regulatory obligations.

  • You have a strong analytical mindset and are comfortable identifying thematic quality and risk trends, typologies, or control weaknesses based on SAR reviews, case observations, or reporting trends. Experience contributing to process improvements, quality frameworks, guidance, or control enhancements is highly valued.

  • You work in a structured and disciplined way, can prioritize effectively, and maintain high quality under time pressure. You take ownership of your assessments and follow through on identified issues and improvement opportunities.

  • You are a collaborative team player who builds strong working relationships, contributes to a positive team environment, and works effectively across functions and seniority levels.

  • You have a constructive and collaborative way of working, with the ability to listen, challenge thoughtfully, and create trust and credibility in dialogue with colleagues and stakeholders
