Join SEB Kort to shape the architecture of a business-critical card platform. You will lead architecture for our PAY area (billing, payments, collections and integrations), balancing the reliability and regulatory demands of a bank with a clear modernisation agenda and the need to simplify our landscape.

About SEB Kort and the PAY area

SEB Kort provides card solutions and services that are central to our customers’ everyday finances. The PAY area delivers card account ledger services and core functions such as billing, payments, collections and data integration for the card business. Parts of the landscape are mature and mission-critical (including legacy ledger applications), and we are now consolidating and modernising the platform to support future growth and new capabilities.

About the role

As Lead Architect for PAY, you will be part of the central Architecture Team of 10 people at SEB Kort. You will lead the architecture work for the PAY delivery organisation (an agile release train / team-of-teams) and collaborate closely with product management, solution architects, tech leads and other lead architects. You will also participate in our domain-level architecture decision forum (Card ADA) where major architecture decisions are shaped.

Key responsibilities include:
•    Own and evolve the target architecture for PAY, ensuring alignment with Card Domain strategy and SEB architecture principles
•    Drive consolidation and modernisation initiatives across the PAY landscape (process, data and integration), from discovery to architectural decision and delivery support
•    Lead and develop the PAY architecture community (solution architects and tech leads) by setting direction, enabling explorations and shaping enabler work
•    Partner with Product Managers and engineering leadership to maximise value delivery while managing risk, compliance and operational stability
•    Create and maintain clear architecture documentation, including key decisions, constraints, integration patterns and roadmaps
•    Identify and manage architecture debt, lifecycle management (LCM) risks and tactical solutions, ensuring they are prioritised and addressed
•    Collaborate with other architects across the Card Domain to design and review end-to-end solutions

Who you are

•    At least 5 years professional experience as a solution/lead architect (or similar) in banking, payments, cards or other regulated financial environment
•    Strong ability to translate business goals into sustainable architecture, balancing time-to-market, risk, cost and operational stability
•    Experience with architecture across different technical platforms, including integration architecture (APIs, messaging/eventing, batch, data integration) and designing end-to-end flows
•    Good understanding of data modelling and SQL (any enterprise-grade database experience is relevant)
•    Comfort working with governance and regulatory expectations common in finance (security, resilience, auditability)
•    Clear communication skills in English and an inclusive, collaborative leadership style

It’s a strong plus if you have
•    Experience with IBM Mainframe environments and/or COBOL/DB2, especially in high-volume transaction processing
•    Experience with java technology and microservice design
•    Knowledge of card/payments value chains (ledger, billing, settlement, collections) and the surrounding ecosystem
•    Hands-on experience driving modernisation from legacy platforms (strangler patterns, incremental decomposition, platform enablement)

What we offer
  • A key architecture leadership role in a business-critical domain
  • A strong professional community of architects and engineers to collaborate with across SEB Kort and the wider SEB Group
  • Engaging and interesting work, SEB Kort is always on the move forward.
  • A flat hierarchy and openness to share ideas, opinions and points of views
  • A culture that values openness, collaboration and sustainable ways of working
  • Agile and modern ways of working including adoption of AI
  • Extensive training and learning opportunities
  • SEB offers excellent office environment and applies a hybrid work policy allowing up to 2 days of working from home.
