FICC Strategist to Strategy & Economic Research | SEB, Stockholm
We are looking to hire a Fixed Income, Commodities and Currencies (FICC) Strategist to join SEB’s Strategy & Economic Research team within our Corporate & Investment Banking division.
If you are excited by financial markets, macroeconomics, quantitative and research-driven trading ideas, we would be delighted to hear from you.
SEB’s Strategy & Economic Research team is a top-ranked Nordic research team covering macroeconomics, foreign exchange, fixed income and commodities. The team comprises around 20 strategists, analysts, and economists based in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki and Singapore.
We provide macro research, analysis and strategy across a broad range of products, markets, topics and regions. Our work supports internal stakeholders, clients and media.
About the role
As a FICC Strategist, your primary focus will be on fixed-income and foreign-exchange markets. You will conduct research from both fundamental and data-driven perspectives, which may include maintaining, running and further developing our models. You will primarily contribute to our tactical research, supporting forecasts and trading recommendations, while also writing and helping to produce research reports.
We expect our research activities to be significantly influenced and transformed by AI over the coming years. We therefore prefer a candidate with strong technical skills and an educational background that will enable them to contribute to, leverage and support this transition.
To thrive in this role, we believe you
- Have at least 2–3 years of relevant experience, ideally as a strategist, quant, trader, sales, treasury professional or portfolio manager within a financial institution, public institution or corporate treasury.
- Bring a strong analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in financial markets.
- Have a university degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics and/or finance/economics or a related discipline, ideally from a leading university.
- Have strong quantitative skills and hands-on professional experience applying statistical and quantitative methods to economic data and financial time series.
- Have practical programming experience, preferably in Python, for data analysis, modelling and developing analytical tools.
- Understand macroeconomics, monetary policy and asset pricing, with particular knowledge of currency and interest rate markets. Experience trading FX or interest rate products is an advantage.
- Value teamwork and actively contribute through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
What we offer
- An entrepreneurial Scandinavian working environment.
- An analytical role with meaningful responsibility, where you will conduct analysis but also help further develop our research processes.
- Close collaboration with Sales and Trading in FICC Markets.
- The opportunity to join a team that values curiosity, energy, collaboration and high professional standards.
- Strong opportunities to shape your own development and build a long-term career at SEB.
