SEB contributes to "financial literacy” in the Baltics

During the financial literacy week SEB in Lithuania and Latvia invited school children to increase their financial knowledge through an online test.

The online test differs a bit between the two countries, but they have the same basic structure. They are aimed at school children in higher grades, but younger kids and their parents have also been invited to test their knowledge. The test is developed by SEB´s personal finance economist together with specialists from different departments.

”We are marking continuous efforts to increase the population’s knowledge in the area of finance, economics as well as personal finance management. We believe that our contribution will help youngsters take the right financial decisions and manager their personal finances,” says Julita Varanauskiene.

During the campaign week, employees at SEB in Latvia were encouraged to visit schools and, with the help of the online test, inform about personal finance and tell about their own way in to the banking world.

Financial Literacy Week, held from March 15-22, is a global initiative from the organisation Child and Youth Financial Education. During the week, various events for kids of both elementary school and senior grade secondary school were arranged by other local financial institutions.
