SEB takes part in new Green Bond issue

This week, SEB was a joint bookrunner for a European Investment Bank (EIB) Climate Awareness Bond issue which aims to support EIB lending to investors interested in climate protection.

SEB developed the Green Bond concept in partnership with the World Bank in 2007/2008 to offer investment opportunities in renewable energy and climate-related projects. Since then, SEB has had significant global experience in distributing Green Bonds after launching the idea with issuances in Korea and the United States.

“We have seen a consistent interest in Green Bonds since we developed the concept in 2007 and we are very pleased to see further success with the EIB with this new issuance. We are seeing a growing awareness and interest for green financial products from the end-investor, and the green bond is an ideal vehicle to align principles of responsible investments with achieving financial goals,” says Christopher Flensborg, head of Sustainable Products and Product Development at SEB.
