Interest from private individuals and entrepreneurs to use their wealth to help society is on the rise. SEB has therefore made new recruitments that enable the bank to help customers that want to use their money for good. 

"The goal is to further strengthen our leadership position in the foundation area and create an offering around donations and social investments in philanthropy," says  Johanna Zenk Palmborg, head of SEB’s business in these two areas.

Johanna Zenk Palmborg joined SEB just over four years ago when she started as head of Family Office. She previously worked for 19 years at Handelsbanken, of which the last ten in Private Banking. Previously, she worked with foundations and non-profit organisations there. Now she is responsible for SEB's offering in philanthropy and foundations.

“Over the past ten years, we have seen sustainability becoming an increasingly important issue for many. Interest from private individuals and entrepreneurs who want to use their wealth to help society is increasing. Our home markets have a high social standard, but there is an increasing need for authorities, private individuals, and entrepreneurs to work together to solve societal problems. There is a lot we can do here together with our customers to contribute to social improvement, which is in line with SEB's overall sustainability work.”

There are many wealthy people who want to form foundations not only in connection with their will but already during their lifetime. SEB has a long history of working with foundations and can assist customers with advice from the foremost experts when it comes to legal and financial issues for foundations.

“We have a fantastic competence, long experience and a strong offer when it comes to foundations. Now we will make sure that more people know about it, both internally and externally. It is important that we take a position in society and disseminate what good and long-term activities our foundations conduct and what an important role they play.”

Philantrophy is growing rapidly

Philanthropy is an area that is growing rapidly as there are many people who have been successful in business or as entrepreneurs who now want to use their wealth for something good. SEB is working to develop the customer offering in in the area so that more customers will receive advice and information on how they can proceed and thus create value for themselves and society.

“I am convinced that there are many customers who want to do good things but not everyone knows what or how to do. There we can help make sure to find forms that are in line with their ambitions and interests,” Johanna Zenk Palmborg says.

Internally at SEB, there is great interest in the work done in philanthropy and foundations and there are many who want to contribute. 

“We have noticed that there is a great deal of curiosity within the bank and a pride that we have this as an offer. Many in the bank want to work with us and we will therefore be able to do good things for our customers and continue to develop our offering.” 

To further develop and accelerate the work, recruitments have been made on both the philanthropy and foundation side.
