About the role:
You will be a part of a professional team within SEB Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) organization that ensures quality of models used for measuring credit risk. We conduct in-depth reviews of the models to ensure quality performance by assessing model design and modelling methodologies, performance from the statistical point of view, data quality, implementation, regulatory compliance, and usage. We are presenting insights and proposing recommendations to the SEB Group CRO management as well as are closely working with the model developers, owners, users, and other key stakeholders.
As a Risk Officer, you will act as a regulatory expert within SEB’s model validation function, ensuring our practices meet and anticipate evolving supervisory expectations. You will play a strategic role in bridging regulatory requirements with internal methodologies, supporting validation teams, and preparing the organization for successful regulatory interactions. Your insights will directly contribute to maintaining the integrity of SEB’s risk management framework and strengthening our regulatory resilience.
While the core validation team operates from Vilnius, we are also welcoming colleagues in Stockholm. In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced professionals throughout SEB’s Group CRO organization in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
As a Risk Officer, you will be responsible for:
Mapping internal validation methodologies and instructions to regulatory requirements (e.g. CRR, EBA Guidelines, EGIM), and implementing necessary enhancements Identifying gaps between internal practices and regulatory expectations, and proposing actionable improvements to strengthen compliance and governance Driving regulatory awareness across the validation function by organizing targeted knowledge-sharing sessions, developing training materials, and providing ongoing guidance to ensure teams understand and apply regulatory requirements effectively Acting as a trusted advisor to validation execution teams, helping interpret regulatory requirements and align validation recommendations with supervisory expectations Preparing high-quality documentation and materials for regulatory interactions, audits, and supervisory reviews, ensuring clarity and consistency Monitoring regulatory developments and translating them into practical implications for model validation practices and governance Collaborating with validation execution teams and stakeholders to promote consistency, transparency, and compliance across the validation lifecycle
To thrive in this role, we believe you have:
At least 3 years of experience in the financial sector, with strong exposure to credit risk models and regulatory frameworks Deep understanding of regulatory requirements for credit risk models (e.g. CRR, EBA Guidelines, EGIM, Basel standards), and experience supporting audits or supervisory reviews Experience in regulatory compliance, model validation, model development, risk oversight, or similar roles Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulatory texts and translate them into practical guidance A university degree in a relevant field such as finance, economics, risk management, law (with a focus on financial regulation), or a related discipline Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across functions and levels of seniority A proactive and structured approach, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality and consistency Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
